Living heritage offers an alternative perspective on cultural heritage. It is closely tied to the concept of valuing groups and individuals to ensure that future generations can inherit and preserve the techniques associated with such cultural practices. Objective: this research aimed to highlight the importance of the June gang as a living heritage and corroboration for the safeguarding of a people, through the cultural association and June gang Origem Nordestina. Following this structure. Methodology: It is characterized as exploratory research with a qualitative approach, using two techniques to meet the research objective: narrative review and participant observation, unstructured, of the specific type. Results: point out the first June gang to have the title of living heritage in Recife and the recognition of the title after its award. Conclusions: that the tradition of the June gang allows us to understand the history and traditions of the community, as well as the recording and transmission of its memories.
