Abstract

Objective: This study analyzes the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Low-code tools in cataloging, focusing on retrospective cataloging and Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR). Method: The methodology consists of a focused literature review centering on the contributions of the Royal Library of Belgium and related studies. Results: Results indicate that automation via Power Platform optimizes workflows, reduces errors, and enhances the accessibility of historical collections. Conclusions: It concludes that AI transforms the librarian's role into a strategic manager and metadata validator, requiring ethical governance and data literacy to mitigate algorithmic biases.
