Abstract

Objective: To report the experience of a university library that began to accept menstrual hygiene products as a form of fee settlement, associating the regularization of debts with the provision of these items to the community. Method: A qualitative and descriptive approach was adopted, grounded in the analysis of administrative records of the campaign, in the operational procedures adopted, and in the observations carried out during its execution. Results: The campaign facilitated the settlement of fees, expanded access to services and informational materials, and promoted menstrual dignity through the unrestricted provision of menstrual products in the university environment. Conclusion: The experience evidenced an attractive alternative of library management, by reconciling preservation of the collection, regularization of pending matters, and inclusive actions, strengthening the cultural mediation of information and the social responsibility of the library.
