Abstract

Research problem: The study discusses how Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing may simultaneously strengthen or silence the collective memory of quilombola communities within digital environments, considering risks of invisibilization, algorithmic bias, and epistemological erasure. Objectives: To critically analyze the implications of these emerging technologies for the digital preservation of documents related to quilombola communities available in the Internet Archive. Methodology: The research is characterized as qualitative, exploratory, and documentary, combining a literature review conducted in Brapci with a thematic analysis of documents retrieved from the platform, organized into interpretative axes concerning resistance, conflicts, and traditional knowledge. Results: The findings demonstrated that digital archives possess an ambivalent character, as they promote the preservation, visibility, and circulation of quilombola knowledge while also reproducing stigmatizing discourses, scientific objectification, and epistemic inequalities. Conclusions: It is concluded that digital preservation is not neutral, as it involves ethical, political, and sociotechnical dimensions, thus requiring the development of informational governance models guided by cognitive justice, epistemic diversity, and reparative memory.
