Internationalization Policy
1. Objectives of the internationalization policy
The Internationalization Policy of the Ciência da Informação Express (CIExpress) journal aims to expand the visibility, impact, and international circulation of the articles published, strengthening global scientific dialogue in the field of Information Science and related areas. The policy seeks to promote the journal’s integration into international research networks, encourage geographic diversity among authors, reviewers, and editorial board members, and facilitate access to its content for non-Portuguese-speaking readers.
2. Languages accepted for submission
CIExpress accepts manuscript submissions in the following languages:
-
Portuguese
-
Spanish
-
English
Regardless of the submission language, all articles must include the title, abstract, and keywords in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, in accordance with the journal’s editorial guidelines.
3. Submission of the final version in English
With the aim of strengthening the journal’s internationalization, CIExpress strongly encourages the submission of the final version of the article in English, particularly when:
-
the article has clear international relevance or scope;
-
the authors seek to broaden the dissemination and impact of their work;
-
the manuscript results from international collaboration or engages with global research agendas.
3.1. Procedure
-
Manuscripts may be initially submitted in Portuguese or Spanish.
-
After final acceptance, authors may choose to submit a revised final version in English, which may be published as the primary version of the article or as an additional version, according to the editorial decision and the journal’s workflow.
-
The translation is the responsibility of the authors and must meet appropriate academic and linguistic standards.
3.2. Linguistic quality
CIExpress recommends that the English version be reviewed by a qualified professional or a proficient speaker to ensure clarity, terminological accuracy, and suitability for international academic communication.
4. International editorial board and reviewers
The internationalization policy of CIExpress includes:
-
the participation of international scholars on the Editorial Board and Reviewer Pool;
-
the assignment of international reviewers whenever appropriate to the manuscript’s subject matter;
-
encouragement of collaboration among researchers from different countries and institutional contexts.
5. Indexing, visibility, and interoperability
As part of its internationalization strategy, CIExpress is committed to:
-
adopting international standards for metadata and interoperability (DOI, ORCID, OAI-PMH);

providing abstracts and metadata in English;
-
seeking inclusion in international indexing services and directories;

aligning with best practices in Open Science, publication ethics, and responsible research metrics.
